Head-to-Head: Canucks 2 – 4 Flames
The Vancouver Canucks take on the Calgary Flames for just the sixth time this season due to their midseason Covid-19 outbreak. With four more games to play before May 19th, the Canucks and Flames have a battle in front of them. After a long season, neither of these clubs made it into playoff contention. The Flames sit at fifth in the North with a record of 23-26-3. Nine points away from the Montreal Canadiens and the playoffs, Calgary’s struggling offence had made it a tough season. As for the Canucks, they’ve had an even worse season. With a record of 21-27-3, Vancouver is the worst in the North. With nothing to play for and a rigorous schedule of 19 games in the last 31 days of the season, the Canucks won’t come out on top tonight,
Prediction: Flames win 4-2.
Los Angeles Kings vs Colorado Avalanche
Head-to-Head: Kings 1 – 6 Avalanche
The Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche face off in their last game of the season tonight. On opposite sides of the rankings, the Kings sit near the bottom of the West Division, while the Avs end their season just shy of the President’s Trophy. In their six meetings to date, the Avalanche have outdone the Kings in every part of the game. Last night was no exception when Colorado goaltender Philipp Grubauer shut out LA’s lacklustre offence and forward J.T Compher recorded his first hat-trick. The Avalanche’s dominant squad will defeat the Kings, tonight.
Prediction: Avalanche win 5-1.
Minnesota Wild vs St. Louis Blues
Head-to-Head: Wild 2 – 6 Blues
The only two teams to play tonight that both have a spot in the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs are the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues. The Wild currently sit at third in the West with a record of 35-15-5a and the Blues just behind them with a 26-20-9 record. Despite the Wild’s higher point total, the Blues have dominated them whenever they have faced off, evidenced by St. Louis’s 4-0 win over them last night. The Blues will control the game again, tonight.
While the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues will not match up in the first round of the playoffs, there is a chance they see each other in the second. Tonight’s game could be a preview of what’s to come.
Prediction: Blues win 3-1.
