The Winnipeg Jets have extended left-shot centre, Adam Lowry. He has agreed to terms on a five-year contract with an annual average of $3.25 million. The contract will take him through the 2025-26 season.

Jets Sign Adam Lowry

The Jets have inked their centre, Adam Lowry, to a new contract. Lowry, the 28-year-old, has spent his entire career thus far with the Jets. They drafted him 67th overall in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft. So far this season, Lowry has eight goals and 12 assists for a total of 20 points in 44 games played. This gives him a points-per-game average of 0.45. It puts him on pace for 37 points in a full 82 game NHL season. This would break his career-high of 29 points in the 2016-17 season.

Over his career, Lowry has been a reliable depth forward for the Jets. He has a total of 143 points in 452 career games. He also has a career Corsi Percentage of 49.6 percent.

Jets Keep Some Forward Depth

Prior to trading for Pierre-Luc Dubois in the 2020-21 season, Lowry was counted on heavily by the Jets down the middle. Once Winnipeg went out and acquired Dubois, however, it gave their roster much more flexibility. It ensured that Blake Wheeler could play his natural position on the wing, while also allowing Lowry to slide down the lineup to become a reliable depth piece, as Dubois could fill his spot in the second-line centre role.

Extending Lowry ensures that the Jets can keep their third-line centre, a piece very important to teams, especially come playoff time. As the Jets continue to improve, he will prove to be an important piece down the line. Lowry, standing at a massive 6’5″ 209 pounds, can provide some versatility for the Jets’ bottom six with his size. Skating with Mathieu Perreault and Mason Appleton, the Jets third line will have a little bit of everything.
