NHL Predictions Featuring Montreal Canadiens vs Winnipeg Jets
Boston Bruins vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Head-To-Head: Bruins 2 – 0 Penguins
A pivotal battle takes place in the NHL’s Eastern Division on Monday night. The fourth-place Boston Bruins (14-7-4) travel to Pittsburgh to battle the third-place Penguins (17-9-1). Boston has been cold lately, winning just five of their last 12 games. Scoring has been the primary concern, with the majority of the production coming from the top line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak. Key injuries to Brandon Carlo and Tuukka Rask will further complicate the coming games. The Penguins, on the other hand, are the hottest team in the division. They have won five games in a row outscoring their opponents 21 to 8. Both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have points in six straight games. Not great news for a struggling Bruins team missing three defencemen and their starting goalie.
Prediction: 4-2 Penguins
Vancouver Canucks vs Ottawa Senators
Head-To-Head: Canucks 3 – 0 Senators
Cellar dwellers of the North Division, the Senators (10-20-1) have won just two of their last seven games. They have given up 32 goals in those games, adding to their NHL worst 121 goals against. There is reason for optimism in Ottawa with rookie Tim Stutzle and second-year pro, Drake Batherson. The future looks bright in the front. The defence needs to catch up to the forward talent. The Canucks (13-16-2) sit sixth in the North but are just three points out of fourth and a playoff position. With a few more games played than the teams they are chasing they can ill afford to lose points. The good news is they have dominated Ottawa this year, outscoring them 16-3 in 3 games. Ellias Pettersson will remain out of this contest with a lower-body injury, which will not help Vancouver.
Prediction: Prediction 4-3 Canucks
Montreal Canadiens vs Winnipeg Jets
Head-To-Head: Canadiens 1 – 3 Jets
The Montreal Canadiens (12-8-7) have been on a slide and find themselves clinging to fourth in the North. Losers of nine of their last 12 the bleu blanc et rouge need to get things together in a hurry. Goaltender Carey Price has been pedestrian sporting a 2.59 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage this season. The Jets (17-8-2) have seen the reverse fortune of their Northern rival. Winners of eight of the last eleven, Winnipeg sits second in the great white North. Head coach Paul Maurice has all four lines rolling right now. Defending Vezina trophy champ Connor Hellebuyck has been solid between the pipes. This game might come down to grit and determination. Neither team wants to give up
