Senyshyn had played his first game of the season, and only seventh of his career, for Boston on Thursday against the New York Rangers. He logged 11:36 of ice time alongside Jack Studnicka and Sean Kuraly on a young dynamic fourth line that received some praise.
A first-round pick of the Bruins in 2015 (15th overall) he has had difficulty cracking the stacked Boston lineup. However, he has been enjoying a great year for the Providence Bruins. In 11 games he has scored five goals and added four assists. He had been called up to breathe some life into an offence that had scored just one goal in the previous two games.
It is unknown how long the Ottawa, Ontario native will be out of the Bruins lineup. Horrible timing for the young player. It had been a long wait for Senyshyn to get his shot after playing just two games in 2018-19 and just four in 2019-20. He has one goal and two assists in seven career NHL games.
Bruins Future
Boston has employed a number of players on their fourth line this year, and there are certainly plenty of options. Anders Bjork is the most likely replacement, should they feel a faster, offensive punch is needed. Long-time fourth-liner Chris Wagner could also find himself quickly back in the lineup. Karson Kuhlman and 2020 acquisition Greg McKegg are other options that have previously featured in the Bruins lineup.
Boston plays the New York Rangers again on Saturday afternoon (1 PM EST) before travelling to face the Pittsburgh Penguins in a two-game series that will go a long way in determining playoff position. The Bruins currently sit in fourth place, one point back of the third-place Penguins, but with two games in hand.
