Sabres Defender Injured in Win over Flyers, Will Miss Significant Time

The Sabres will be down one of their depth defenders for about six-to-eight weeks. Conor Timmins was injured in Thursday’s win over the Flyers.

Conor Timmins Injury and Impact to Sabres

Per head coach Lindy Ruff, Timmins broke his leg with 5:20 left in the second period of the game. After a collision along the near side boards, Timmins immediately grabbed his left knee, and did not get up. It took a couple of moments and the help of his teammates to get off the ice. Timmins obviously did not return.

Timmins has been a nice addition for the Sabres along the blueline. With some nice defensive play, along with six assists so far this season. A tough blow for the Sabres as they just got Michael Kesselring back from injury, and playing with their full anticipated blue line they were expecting in training camp.

Timmins Injury, Who’s up?

The Sabres will likely turn to defenceman Jacob Bryson. Bryson is no stranger to the Sabres lineup, being with the team since 2020-2021. Bryson has played in 22 Sabres games so far this season, usually being the go to guy when a Sabres defenceman is out for any reason. If they opt to go a different route, they will most likely have to look to the American Hockey League.

The Sabres have called up Zach Metsa on a couple of occasions so far this season. He played four games this season, and was a nice fill in for the Sabres. However, Metsa is currently listed as inactive with the Rochester Americans. If he does return shortly, hopefully it will be for the Sabres. If not, the Sabres will likely make a different call up. Zac Jones or Ryan Johnson are both names that come to mind. Whether they see time in Buffalo or not will be a choice from the front office to make in the coming days.
