Winnipeg Jets Ink Young Forward to New Deal

One of the more prominent pieces for the Winnipeg Jets is back in the fold. Forward Cole Perfetti has a new contract, albeit a bridge-deal. He is locked in for the next two years and will have an AAV of $3.25 million. The versatile young forward is part of the fold for the foreseeable future, which is great for him and the team. Now Perfetti gets to focus on hockey, and proving he’s worth a higher AAV on his next contract.

Jets, Perfetti Agree on New Contract

When Perfetti fell to the Jets in his draft year, it was a perfect fit. He has the skill and the tools to be an effective player and can play both the centre and the wing position. Also, this is a player who’s progressively gotten better since entering the league.

He got just 18 games of action under his belt the first season, but saw more action in 2022-23. Perfetti flexed his playmaking ability, finishing with 22 assists and also chipped in on the power play. Although, he had a career year in terms of goal scoring and points in a more full time role.

Perfetti finished the 2023-24 season with 19 goals and 38 points, which are both career highs. In addition, his shot total rose from the year before and he finished with a whopping 13.4 shooting percentage. Perfetti played one game this postseason, but his time will come for more action in that regard. This is a solid player and the Jets will be happy to have him for more years.

What this Contract Means for the Jets

This Perfetti contract is good for the Jets. After striking goal and landing a nice return in the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade, the team keeps adding impactful youth to the roster. This is a Jets team that was one of the best teams in the league despite losing in the first round.

The Jets have their core group locked up for the foreseeable future and can build off of a successful season. With Perfetti coming off a career year, he can be part of the fold and continue to develop his game. This is a good day for both sides and the Jets should look to remain competitive for a championship.
