The Philadelphia Flyers Sign their Top Pick from the 2024 Draft to ELC

The Philadelphia Flyers have made the right decision and signed Jett Luchanko to his entry-level contract (ELC). General Manager Daniel Briere is excited to have Luchanko signed to his club. Look for this pick to make an impact in the NHL when the Flyers give him his shot.

The Philadelphia Flyers Sign the 13th-Overall Pick from 2024 NHL Draft

Jett Luchanko has signed a contract to begin his NHL career. The OHL product played for the Guelph Storm before getting drafted. In his pre-draft season, he scored 20 goals and added 54 assists for 74 points in 68 games played. Despite being rated ahead of the draft to go lower, he has all the attributes of an NHLer. The fact that he was a plus, point-per-game player in the OHL as a 17-year-old, and not really described as an offensive player, is, if nothing else, noteworthy. Luchanko is hard on the puck, and not afraid of a little dirty work. At 5’11”, look for him to be a hound on the puck. If he could do it against older competition in junior, why wouldn’t he be able to do it in the professional ranks.

The Philadelphia Flyers Are Better Off With Jett Luchanko

When General Manager Daniel Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers, along with special guest Michael Buffer, announced the deal, everyone was surprised. Perhaps the least surprised person in the house was…Jett Luchanko. He may very well have been surprised, but he is the type of player that wouldn’t show his poker-face. Perhaps that is why the Flyers drafted the puck hound in Luchanko. Also, the Flyers seem like a good team to harness his skillset with the type of talented players they have on their roster. It is unknown when Luchanko would be ready for the NHL, but given the Flyers current situation being mostly in flux, and besides the fact anyway, there will be no rush in getting him into the NHL.
