Cameron is the coach of the Ottawa 67s, but also has experience leading Canada at the international level. Other assistant coaches that were named were to the bench staff were Sylvain Favreau, Mike Johnston and Chris Lazary. Justin Pogge was selected as the team’s goalie coach for the tournament.
Canada lost in the quarterfinals of the 2024 tournament after winning back-to-back gold medals the two previous events. The United States ended up winning the tournament over host Sweden to spoil the party in Gothenburg.
Peter Anholt will return to lead the team’s management group. Three-time Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Brent Seabrook will also be be in a management role.
What It Means
Cameron once again faces the pressure of leading Canada to a gold medal on home soil. It’s always a lot to deal with, but Cameron has also been through the process before. He knows what to expect and is a proven winner in this tournament.
The 67s boss will have his hands in team selection, but he’ll have no shortage of talented players to draw from. This is always a big tournament and the hosts want to win another gold medal for its third in the last four years.
The Canadian capital is hosting the World Juniors for the first time since 2009. Team Canada sent the crowd home happy with a gold medal victory.
