Forward Jonathan Marchessault has himself a new contract. After spending the last several years with the Vegas Golden Knights, Marchessault is signing with the Nashville Predator. Also, he is locked in for the next five years and will make $5.5 million per season. Good for him, as he has emerged as a legitimate threat.
Marchessault Signs Contract With Nashville Predators
Jonathan Marchessault has been a sensational player for the Vegas Golden Knights. He came over to the Golden Knights during the expansion draft and has been a mainstay in the lineup. Not to mention, he’s been the definition of consistency when it comes to scoring goals.
From 2017-18 until this season, Marchessault has reached the 20-goal mark four times, while hitting the 30-goal mark once. However, his biggest impact production wise came during the 2023-24 campaign. Marchessault was arguably the teams’ best player and healthiest. In 82 games, he went on to score a career-high 42 goals and also had 69 points. His 29.5 expected goals in all situations was also the most among all Vegas skaters.
Marchessault is also a Stanley Cup Champion and won the Conn Smythe Trophy during the championship run. He’s very worthy of this contract.
What this Means for the Team
The Jonathan Marchessault contract makes sense for both sides. Most importantly, the team is getting a legitimate scoring threat up front. Marchessault can play on the top two lines and even get looks on the power play. The biggest key is that he brings depth and can add that extra layer of goal-scoring.
For Marchessault he gets an extremely great deal and is worthy of his pay raise. He has been a core piece for Vegas since being brought on and can now bring that same level of play to this team. It’s a great deal for both parties.
