Forward Matt Duchene has a new contract in place. Duchene is staying with the Dallas Stars for another year. The deal is the same as he had last year with the club with a $3 million cap hit. It’s a good deal for both sides. It was a tremendous year with the Dallas Stars and worthy of a new payday.
Matt Duchene’s extension with the #stars is expected to be a one-year deal in the same range as what he made last season: $3M.

Matt Duchene Locked In to New Contract
What a wild year it was for Duchene. This is a player that saw his contract get bought out by the Nashville Predators, only to see him sign a one-year deal with the Dallas Stars. Safe to say, that gamble paid off for the Stars, as they got a player that helped fill a void down the middle of the ice.
Duchene was exactly what the Stars needed and brought in production to the second line. In 80 games played, Duchene went on to score 25 goals and 65 points, which was his second-most productive season since he signed with the Predators. Also, Duchene became a weapon on the power play and had great chemistry with forward Tyler Seguin.
Duchene became a playoff hero, as he scored the game-winning goal to send the Stars to the conference finals. He turned a stellar season into a good payday.
What This Means for the Dallas Stars
The Duchene contract makes sense for both sides. Matt Duchene gets an extra year in Dallas and the team gets a player that can contribute offensively and proved to be a solid fit for the team last year. Duchene can play in multiple offensive situations and play on the top two lines. Also, he is versatile and can play centre and wing and that’s a valuable asset when setting your lineup.
Duchene has been a good player throughout his career and is a worthy asset of this new contract.
