Utah Brings Back Defenceman With New Contract

The building blocks on the back end continue for Utah. Michael Kesselring has a new contract to keep him with the franchise. He is signed for the next two years. He was one of the better players on the Arizona Coyotes last season and gets to continue on with the club.

Kesselring Inks Contract To Remain In Utah

The transition of the blueline continues for the franchise and now in Utah. After parting ways with Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Jakob Chychrun, transitioning new pieces has been in the works. Sean Durzi was the perfect addition to this club and went on to lead defenceman in points. Also, J.J. Moser has become a pillar on the back end, making the blueline young but effective.

Kesselring is not far behind. He went on to finish third in points among Coyotes defenceman and went on to score five goals. Also , two of those goals were game winners, so he got to play the hero this season. This was his first true regular season and he thrived for the Desert Dogs. He averaged 15:48 of time on ice and was a physical presence for the Coyotes. In what has been an off-season of retaining their own, the Kesselring contract is great going forward.

What This Means

The Kesselring contract makes sense for Utah. This is all about building towards the present but also the future. Kesselring gets to join a young but promising blueline and continue to build off his strong season. For Utah, it’s all about putting the pieces together and Kesselring gets to be part of things. It is exciting to see for Utah, as they begin a new chapter. The inaugural season for Utah is going to be electric and this is great for both sides going into the 2024-25 season.
