NHL Rumours: Canucks Expected to Pursue Hurricanes Forward

Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumours! There is a lot of generating buzz around the league and the free agency frenzy is approaching. Not only is the trade market loaded with big names, the free agency market it is as well. One of the biggest names on the list is forward Jake Guentzel. Today’s rumours swirl around the Vancouver Canucks and their pursuit for him.

NHL Rumours

Rumour: Frank Seravelli from Daily Faceoff discusses that a strong pursuit is in order for Jake Guentzel

The biggest fish on the free agency market is Guentzel. He was the biggest trade chip at the trade deadline before landing with the Carolina Hurricanes. Guentzel is a phenomenal player and tremendous asset to any contending team. He went on to prove that he is more than just a player that had the luxury of playing alongside Sidney Crosby.

After a successful season, the Canucks are looking to reinforce the roster. They have the core of talented players to accomplish something special. Adding a proven goal scorer like Guentzel furthers that. Seravelli makes a good point of the Canucks having ties to former Penguins. Rick Tocchet was a player and Jim Rutherford had a front office role. Adding Guentzel fits that and would be a boost to the lineup.

Guentzel is a Perfect Fit

The latest NHL Rumours of the Canucks adding extra scoring is huge. As a team, they finished sixth overall in goal scoring and there was no shortage of firepower. Under Tocchet the Canucks took major strides and adding Guentzel to that makes them more dangerous.

A core group featuring Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, and Quinn Hughes is a great offensive unit. With the amount of depth that’ll likely be heading to free agency, adding Guentzel strengthens it. Guentzel went on to finish the year with 30 goals and 77 points. Also, he went on to finish with nine points during the playoffs. An already dangerous team could get more dangerous once free agency approaches. Once the clock strikes 12, all eyes are on Guentzel.
