The Arizona Coyotes Make Wise Decision and Trade Veteran Winger

The Arizona Coyotes have made a trade involving veteran Left Winger Jason Zucker. Zucker will help provide both scoring depth and leadership to his new club. This was a smart move in acquiring his services.

The Coyotes Trade Jason Zucker

The 32-year-old Jason Zucker has had a productive career and can still produce. He has nine goals and 16 assists through 51 games for the Coyotes this season. Furthermore, he maintains a solid CORSI metric standing with a CF% Rel of 6.5. Impressive in the sense that he plays on a team 7th in the Central Division standings. In addition, last year, in 2022-23, was productive for him as well. He tallied 27 goals as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins and added 21 assists. Also, over the years, he has compiled plenty of NHL Stanley Cup playoff experience, totalling 46 games.

What Does This Mean for the Coyotes

After starting the season hot, the Coyotes went ice cold and found themselves out of the playoff picture. Therefore, they needed to shift to sellers at the 2024 NHL trade deadline in order to grow for the future. This is exactly what this trade does for the organization. Giving up a veteran was no big deal, given that they are not in a playoff race.

What Will the Zucker Trade Acquisition Mean for His New Club

Picking up Jason Zucker by trade at the deadline was a great move. Zucker is a player that can play up and down in the lineup. Furthermore, he is a reliable player and can be used effectively to hold leads in a tight playoff atmosphere-type game. He brings the intangible of veteran leadership. For all these reasons, they will be more than happy to have him around. At this time in the season, depth is such a desired quality, and Zucker provides exactly that for a playoff contender.
