NHL Predictions
Nashville Predators vs Edmonton Oilers
Head-to-Head: Predators 1-1 Oilers
TV: Bally Sports South; Sportsnet; ESPN+
Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Nashville Predators trying to stop the red-hot Edmonton Oilers. Juuse Saros is expected to get the start for the Predators. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Nashville has lost three of the last five, but did beat the Minnesota Wild last time out. Filip Forsberg has reached the 50-point mark with 23 goals and 27 assists.
Stuart Skinner is slated to get the start in between the pipes for the Oilers, who have won 15 straight games. Skinner has been a bellwether for the Oilers’ recent run. The defence has been great and complimenting Edmonton’s potent offence. Zach Hyman is one goal away from the 30-goal mark before the All-Star Break.
Saros is capable of stealing a game when he’s on, but the Oilers continue the hot streak.
Prediction: Oilers win 4-2.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs Winnipeg Jets
Head-to-Head: Maple Leafs 1-0 Jets
TV: Sportsnet; ESPN+
Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Toronto Maple Leafs looking for a home-and-home sweep of the Winnipeg Jets. Ilya Samsonov will get the start again after a great performance the last game. Toronto will likely be without Calle Jarnkrok due to a hand injury. Auston Matthews is one goal away from getting to 40 before the All-Star Game.
Connor Hellebuyck is the projected starter for Winnipeg, which lost 1-0 to Toronto last time out. The Jets are in a tight race with the Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division. Kyle Connor leads the team in goals with 18 so far. Winnipeg boasts the best scoring defence in the NHL.
This will hopefully live up to the last game, but the Jets will get the split.
Prediction: Jets win 3-1.
Columbus Blue Jackets vs Vancouver Canucks
Head-to-Head: Blue Jackets 1-0 Canucks
TV: Bally Sports Ohio; Sportsnet 1; ESPN+
Our final game of NHL predictions has the Vancouver Canucks hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. Daniil Tarasov is the expected starter for the Blue Jackets, who have lost three of the last five games. However, one of those victories was a shootout win over the Canucks in Ohio. Kirill Marchenko leads the team in goals with 14.
Thatcher Demko is the prospective starter in goal for the Canucks, who lost to the St Louis Blues last time out. Vancouver had its three-game winning streak stopped in that last game to St Louis. Brock Boeser leads the way in goals while Quinn Hughes is topping the assist category with 47.
Vancouver would love to end the first half with a victory and it should do so.
Prediction: Canucks win 5-3.
Prop Bet of the Night
Let’s go back to our opening game of this round of NHL predictions for our prop of the day. The Oilers have been red-hot and working well in all phases of the game. Edmonton’s power play has been especially good and is fifth in the league. Nashville’s penalty kill is towards the bottom of the league at 25th.
We like the Oilers converting on the power play at least once in our preferred prop bet of the day. Playmakers like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard should pick up at least one power play marker in this game.
