NHL Predictions: Nov. 9 w/ New York Islanders vs Boston Bruins

NHL predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

New York Islanders vs Boston Bruins

Head-to-Head: Islanders 0-0 Bruins

TV: NESN; MSGSN; ESPN+

Our featured game of NHL predictions has the New York Islanders taking on the Boston Bruins. The Isles have lost two straight and three of their last five games. Ilya Sorokin is the projected starter, but always check on social media before locking in a fantasy starter. New York is 27th in goals for, but can play defence with the best of them. Sorokin is very capable of stealing a game for the Isles.

Linus Ullmark is the likely starter for the Bruins, who are switching between him and Jeremy Swayman in goal. Boston has won four of its last five and has continued to play well despite some big retirements in the off-season. The Bruins are first in goals against in the entire league. David Pastrnak continues to lead the way in goals (9) and assists (8) the Bruins.

The under may be a tantalizing play, but the Bruins will get the job done at home.

Prediction: Bruins win 3-1.

Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets

Head-to-Head: Stars 1-0 Blue Jackets

 TV: ESPN+; Hulu

Our second game of NHL predictions has the Dallas Stars looking to sweep the season-series against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Jake Oettinger will be tasked with trying to stop a two-game slide for the Stars. Dallas has struggled to score goals, but it’s very good at stopping them. Jason Robertson is starting to come into his own with nine points.

Spencer Martin will get the call for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four of their last five games. Team captain Boone Jenner leads the way with six goals while Ivan Provorov has nine assists for his new squad.

This could be another low-scoring game, but Dallas comes away with the win.

Prediction: Stars win 4-1.

Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks

Head-to-Head: Oilers 0-0 Sharks

TV: ESPN+; Hulu; Sportsnet West

Our final game of NHL predictions has the Edmonton Oilers taking on the San Jose Sharks. Many thought this would be the game where the Sharks could get their first win. However, the Sharks beat the Philadelphia Flyers the other night. Edmonton has been just as bad as San Jose to start the campaign. Stuart Skinner will likely draw the start, but won’t have to worry about Jack Campbell for the near future.

San Jose is still dead-last in goals for and goals against. Mackenzie Blackwood will get the start for the Sharks, who are looking for a win streak.

Edmonton knows their season is on the line and will come out firing.

Prediction: Oilers win 5-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

We’ll keep with the Oilers and Sharks game for our prop bet of the evening. Normally, we don’t seek multiple-point nights for our prop. However, we’ll roll with Connor McDavid getting over on 1.5 points in tonight’s game.
