With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.
NHL Predictions
Detroit Red Wings vs New York Rangers
Head-to-Head: Red Wings 0-0 Rangers
TV: TNT; Max
Our opening and featured game of NHL predictions has the Detroit Red Wings battling the injury-depleted New York Rangers. Ville Husso will get the call in between the pipes for the Red Wings. However, always check social media to see the other goalies that are locked into for fantasy purposes. Alex DeBrincat has nine goals to lead the club, but has slowed down from his hot start.

The Blueshirts will counter with Jonathan Quick in goal due to the injury to Igor Shesterkin. Artemi Panarin has started the season with an 11-game point streak and Chris Kreider has been dominant on the power play. However, injuries to Adam Fox, Shesterkin and Filip Chytil will test the Rangers’ depth. Players like Alexis Lafreniere and Kappo Kakko are going to have to step up.
Detroit is coming off a big win over the Boston Bruins and should continue that momentum.
Prediction: Red Wings win 4-2.
Nashville Predators vs Calgary Flames
Head-to-Head: Predators 0-0 Flames
TV: Bally Sports South; Sportsnet West; ESPN+
We have a Western Conference matchup between the Nashville Predators and the Calgary Flames. Juuse Saros is the probable starter in net for Nashville. The Predators have shown some flashes at times under new coach Andrew Brunette. However, there’s been some inconsistency. Ryan O’Reilly has lived up to the signing hype so far the Predators.
Jacob Markstrom is the confirmed starter for the Flames, who stopped the bleeding against the Seattle Kraken. There’s been a lot of frustration with the club so far early in the campaign. The Flames need to pick up their goal-scoring if they want to get moving up the standings.
Calgary is the home favourite, but we like Nashville in his one.
Prediction: Predators win 3-2.
Philadelphia Flyers vs San Jose Sharks
Head-to-Head: Flyers 0-0 Sharks
TV: NBC Sports Philadelphia; NBC Sports California
Our last game of the night has the Philadelphia Flyers taking on the San Jose Sharks. Samuel Ersson is the likely starter with the injury to Carter Hart. The Flyers have lost four of their last five games and offence has been a problem for the team. Travis Konecny has nine goals already this season.
Mackenzie Blackwood is the likely starter for the Sharks, who have only one point this season. Fabian Zetterlund leads the club with three goals, but the Sharks are dead-last in goals for and goals against.
The Flyers could be ripe for the picking, but John Tortorella on the bench will be a big boost for the club.
Prediction: Flyers win 4-3 in overtime.
Prop Bet of the Night
We’re going to keep the momentum rolling with Panarin. We like him getting the over on the 0.5 points tonight to keep that streak riding high.
