NHL Predictions

Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers

Head-to-Head: Sabres 0-0 Flyers

TV: TNT; Max; MSG-B

Our first game of NHL predictions has the first of a home-and-home series between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is the projected starter, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. Buffalo came up with a huge 4-0 win over Colorado in its last outing. Jeff Skinner has five goals while Rasmus Dahlin has seven assists this season. The Sabres have won three of its last five.

Philadelphia will counter with confirmed starter Carter Hart in between the pipes. The Flyers have lost four of their last five, but are playing like a John Tortorella-coached team. This club will give effort and play hard despite being very young. Travis Konecny is continuing his great play from last season with eight goals already.

Both teams are young, but Buffalo has confidence going in.

Prediction: Sabres win 4-2.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames

Head-to-Head: Stars 0-0 Flames

TV: Bally Sports Southwest; Sportsnet One

The Dallas Stars take on the Calgary Flames in this Western Conference matchup. Jake Oettinger is the projected starter for the Stars, who are second in goals in goals against. However, the Dallas offence needs to help out a bit more. Roope Hintz has three goals while Jason Robertson has been playing better in recent games. Dallas has won four of its last five games.

Calgary will likely counter with Jacob Markstrom in the crease. The Flames have lost five straight games and the season has a chance of going off the rails early. Calgary’s offence hasn’t scored more than two goals in each of those last five losses. Andrew Mangiapane leads the team in goals with three.

This could be a game where the under number gets a long look. Dallas picks up a narrow win.

Prediction: Stars win 3-2.

St Louis Blues vs Colorado Avalanche

Head-to-Head: Blues 0-0 Avalanche

TV: TNT; Max; Altitude 2

Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Blues taking on the Avalanche. The Blues have lost three of their last five and were shutout in the last time on the ice. Jordan Binnington is the projected starter for the Blues in this game. St Louis is second-to-last in goals scored with only 13.

Ivan Prosvetov is the likely starter in net for the Avalanche, which has been shutout two games in a row. Mikko Rantanen leads the team in goals (5) and assists (7) for Colorado. Both teams are top five in goals allowed in the early portion of the season. Colorado boasts the third-best penalty kill while St Louis has the worst power play in the league.

This could be another game that tempt a bet at the low number. However, the Avs are due for a breakout.

Prediction: Avalanche win 3-1.

Arizona Coyotes vs Anaheim Ducks

Head-to-Head: Coyotes 1-0 Ducks

TV: Bally Sports West; Scripps

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Arizona Coyotes battling the Anaheim Ducks. Arizona has three wins in its last five games and Michael Carcone leads in goals with four. Karel Vejmelka is the projected starter for the Coyotes.

Lukas Dostal probably gets the call for the Ducks, who have four straight wins. Anaheim is defying expectations and Frank Vatrano has nine goals this season. Ryan Strome already has nine assists this campaign for the Ducks.

This is a hard game to tell, but the Coyotes stop the streak.

Prediction: Ducks win 4-3 in overtime.
