Tatar Signs Contract With Avalanche
Tomas Tatar has a new contract in place. The seasoned veteran has spent time with the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights, and the Devils. After a career year with Montreal in 2019-20, his production took a dip. However, he is coming off a strong season with the Devils displaying that there is good hockey left in the tank.
Playing in all 82 games, Tatar scored 20 goals, 28 assists, and 48 points. In addition, he had an eye-opening +40 for the season. Tatar also saw his shooting percentage jump up to 13.1%. He was a factor all over the ice and thrived on whatever line he played on. This was his best personally in two seasons. Tatar was one of the more impactful forwards at 5v5 for the Devils this season. He had the third-best Corsi for percentage, the second-best expected goals percentage, and the fourth-best high-danger Corsi for percentage. Safe to say, good things happened with him on the ice. However, he did not have the best playoff performance this year for the club. The (enter team) is getting a quality player at the later stages of his career.
What This Contract Means
The Tomas Tatar contract is great for both sides. After the Devils opted to trade for Tyler Toffoli, Tatar became the odd man out. However, after a strong season with the club, Tatar earned his next contract. He is a proven veteran with years of experience and meaningful hockey under his belt. Tatar brings leadership, veteran presence, and depth scoring which is great for any team building something. The journey for Tomas Tatar continues.
