Stanley Cup Winning Goaltender Signs New Contract

Stanley Cup-winning goaltender Adin Hill has a new contract in place. Hill has signed with the Vegas Golden Knights and is locked in for the next two years. In addition, Hill will have an AAV of $4.9 million. This is a great deal for him as his hockey journey continues.

Hill Signs Contract With As Hockey Journey Continues

Adin Hill has earned himself a new contract. Hill is a former third-round pick of the Arizona Coyotes in 2015 and has had stints with the San Jose Sharks. Hill was a solid goaltender on a poor Arizona squad. His best season came in 2019-20, with a 2.62 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. San Jose would acquire the goaltender, only to flip him to the Vegas Golden Knights. The rest is history.

Hill was extraordinary for Vegas, especially in the playoffs. But during the regular season, Hill went 16-7-1 and had a 2.50 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. In addition, he finished with 0.9 goals saved above expected. But Hill turned things on in the playoffs, warranting this new contract.

Hill stepped in for the injured Laurent Brossoit. Once he did, he was sensational the entire way. Hill finished with a 2.17 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. His 7.7 goals saved above expected was top five among playoff goalies. His journey continues after a stellar rest of the season.

What This Contract Means

For The Team

Adin Hill has a new contract. After a strong season and helping the Vegas Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup, landing a luxurious payday was coming. The risk is there, but so is the high reward potential. Hill has not shown he can be a valid number one over an 82-game season. However, Hill has shown he has the makings of a solid net presence and can help form a 1A/1B tandem. This is an excellent contract for the team and they hopes of strengthening the position.

For Hill

This is an excellent contract for Adin Hill. Hard work pays off, and that has been the case for the goaltender. After spending time flipping teams and being on the move, Hill now has security and a permanent place to play hockey. Winning a Stanley Cup and having strong numbers helped his case and now he’s a handsomely paid goaltender.
