Edmonton Oilers Defenseman Suspended One Game

The Edmonton Oilers had a scrum in the final minutes during their game 4 win against the Vegas Golden Knights. This resulted in multiple hearings, one of them being defenseman Darnell Nurse. As a result, there was a suspension and a fine as a result of Nurse’s fight in their latest game.

Darnell Nurse Suspended One Game

After a fight between Darnell Nurse and Alex Pietrangelo at the end of the game, Nurse was immediately ejected. His ejection was for instigating the fight within the final five minutes.

Although it is an automatic one-game suspension, there is a hearing to see if the suspension will be upheld. If it is upheld, Nurse will be allowed to play game five, and Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft will not be fined $100,000.

Despite the appeal, Nurse will serve the one-game suspension, and Jay Woodcroft will have to pay the $100,000 fine.

With that, the intensity between these two teams grows even larger.

What This Means

Although there still has to be a hearing for Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo for the slash on Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl that started the scuffle, the punishments have been pretty much handed out.

The Oilers now lose a piece of their star power for an important game five. Although, the Golden Knights may also lose Pietrangelo to even the star power loss.

So far in these playoffs, Nurse has 4 points in 10 games is affected by the star power being locked down by their opposing teams which has affected the Oilers all playoffs.
