Flames Trying to Sign Matthew Coronato Contract
Rumour: During Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada’s Headlines segment, Elliotte Friedman said the Flames are applying a full-court press when trying to sign their draft pick. The 13th overall pick of 2021 NHL Draft recently saw his season end when Harvard got eliminated in an 8-1 loss to Ohio State. Calgary said they’re ready to bring Coronato into the fold as the team tries to clinch a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.

The Huntington, N.Y. native just finished his sophomore season with 20 goals in 34 games with Harvard, who won the ECAC tournament title. Cornato was on a talented team with the recently-signed Henry Thrun and Sean Farrell.
Impact of Matthew Coronato Contract Signing
Calgary has been very high on the young forward and he’d be a good addition for the team. The Flames can also get him on a lower-cost, entry-level deal. He does have a very good shot and a quick release.
The Flames could use a good young scorer on their team. Calgary has gotten success from the collegiate ranks with Johnny Gaudreau before he moved onto the Columbus Blue Jackets. Coronato could be another solid young player from the college scene to help the Flames.
