It is no secret that the Chicago Blackhawks are poised to be sellers. As we all know the biggest fish and long-tenure members in Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane will most likely be dealt with. But today’s rumours focus on the possibility of a Max Domi trade. He is a player to keep watch on given the season he has had this year for the Blackhawks.

A Max Domi trade makes sense for contending teams. The guy is the perfect depth piece and he only carries a cap hit of $3 million for the rest of the season. Domi has shown his ability to play all over the ice playing both centre and wing. Like his father Tie Domi, he has a snarl to his game and isn’t afraid to be physical. Domi could be the diamond in the rough this deadline.
His Value
Domi is on his fifth team in his eight-year career and might be six in the coming weeks. Like last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, a contender can come calling for his services. Domi got to play the hero in Game 7 for the club and could do that again this year for a team. He is on a better pace than he was last season. In addition, Domi leads the team in goals (14), and points (34). He is off to one of his best seasons since his days in Montreal (where he was a 70-point player) and would be great depth on a playoff roster.
The teams to watch for in this scenario could be a team like the New Jersey Devils or Toronto Maple Leafs. Getting value where they can and shoring up the bottom six. Both of those teams have an excellent top-six unit and the depth could propel them further in the playoffs.
