Montreal Canadiens Injuries Piling Up
This is brutal news for a team already in a slide, and it is never easy to be down three forwards. These three players are out indefinitely and will all be further evaluated to have a better timeline of when they will return. It’s not a good time for the Montreal Canadiens’ injuries to pile on, especially as it’s another speed bump in Slafkovsky’s rookie season, where he’s already missed some time.
In addition to these three being on injured reserve, they join Sean Monahan, who has been progressing well but has been out since November. Overall this isn’t good news for Montreal and is a tough pill to swallow.
The Reinforcements
With the slew of injuries to the Montreal Canadiens, help is on the way. There are always reinforcements on the way when injuries occur. In this case, the Canadiens have recalled forwards Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Rem Pitlick, who will participate in the morning skate.
Harvey-Pinard has seen very little game action with the big club. Last season he appeared in four games and managed one point. However, under his current head coach in AHL Laval, he has 25 points in 37 games played. The experience with the big club could be good under Martin St Louis.
Pitlick has had more experience at the NHL level. He has played with the Nashville Predators and now Montreal. This season he has suited up in 14 games and has one point. Over the course of his young career, he has 16 goals, 24 assists, and 40 points.
The Tough Pill To Swallow
The Montreal Canadiens’ injuries pile on. Every player has a role, and one is the first overall pick in this year’s draft choice. It was a given that Montreal would not be a contender, but in terms of development, this team is trending upwards. Let’s hope for good health and good fortune for these players and for them to return sooner than later.
