NHL Rumour: Vancouver Canucks Forward Has Permission To Find Trade Partner

We are at the quarter mark of the season. Teams are flying high or they are trying to figure things out. One team that has surprised everyone in a bad way is the Vancouver Canucks. The team is at the bottom of the division and it has gotten so low that a player could be shipped out of town in a roster shake-up. Today’s rumours focus on Vancouver Canucks Brock Boeser.

Vancouver Canucks Brock Boeser Has Permission To Seek Trade

Rumour: On Saturdays Hockey Night In Canada Headlines segment, Elliotte Friedman discusses that Brock Boeser can seek a trade.

This is not the first time that Brock Boeser has been involved in the trade rumour mill. For the last two summers, he has been in the rumour mill. He has stuck around, but the team has permitted him to seek a trade. This could be the start of a roster shakeup, and Boeser could get a fresh start somewhere else.

Why Ship Him Out?

Vancouver Canucks Brock Boeser could be the odd man out. The team extended J.T. Miller and currently has captain Bo Horvat as a pending UFA. He could fetch a nice return as he is still young and has his prime years ahead of him. Since breaking into the league, he has consistently topped the 40-point mark every year.

However, this season has not gone his way. In 18 games played and has only scored three goals. Boeser is on a three-game pointless streak. In addition to that, the team has zero cap space available. Boeser has three years remaining with a $6.6 million dollar cap hit.

Where Do The Canucks Go From Here?

Things are not going great in Vancouver. Starting goaltender Thatcher Demko is out with an injury for six weeks. And now Boeser has permission to seek a trade. This team could eventually hit a rebuild or just retool. They have key pieces with Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, Demko, Horvat, and Miller. It will be interesting to see where Boeser ends up and what the return is.
