Lysell is turning some heads with plays like these. There is increasing buzz and speculation that he may find himself wearing the spoked B on opening night. With Boston’s injury woes and Brad Marchand recovering from off-season surgery, the opportunity is there for the taking.
“If he’s not the best skater I’ve ever seen, he’s certainly one of them.”
Lysell’s WHL General Manager Barclay Parneeta quipped about the Swede. Adding that “No matter who you are, you’re going to recognize ‘wow, this guy is incredibly fast”. The Vancouver Giants GM stated only two players he’s seen with better skating ability than the young winger: Pavel Bure and Connor McDavid.
With training camp approaching quickly it will be interesting to see how Lysell’s story unfolds. Don Sweeney also commented, “There’s always a chance a young player could make the team” when speaking to reporters on Wednesday.
The right winger, Lysell, was drafted 21st Overall in the 2021 Entry Draft. He is perceived as the Bruins most outstanding prospect to be coming up the pipeline. Lysell himself was quoted sounding confident in his ability to make the Boston Bruins this year.“I do think I can make the team.” Adding “We’ll see what happens. I’ll know more when I go [to Boston] after this tournament.”
Be sure to tune into the IIHF World Junior Championship to see if the young Swede can provide us with any more highlight reel plays.
