Frank Vatrano Enters New Chapter After Signing A New Deal Out West

NHL Rumours

Frank Vatrano has signed a new deal. After having to move at the trade deadline, the former New York Rangers forward has signed with the Anaheim Ducks. This is a good deal as he is signed for three years and will be making $10.95 million or $3.65 million AAV. This is a good signing for the team and player as he brings a lot to the lineup.

Frank Vatrano Signs New Deal

Frank Vatrano is not the sexiest name on the free agency list, but the speedy winger brings a lot to the lineup. He plays with speed, has some snarl to his game, and soft hands around the net. He is not the biggest player as he stands to be 5’11″ and weighs 197 pounds. Vatrano makes the most of his opportunities, therefore when he got to New York he shined under the bright lights.

For the better part of his career, Frank Vatrano has spent it being a bottom-six player. Once he got to New York, he slotted right into the top six, which granted him playing on the top line. While playing with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, Vatrano then saw himself reaching point totals he hadn’t reached in three seasons. In 22 games with the Rangers he scored eight goals and had five assists. In total, he would score 18 goals, 14 assists and 32 points. Vatrano had an expected goals at 14, which is a good output for him given where he’s spent most of his time in the lineup.

The Forwards Career

The Massachusetts native spent his career with the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers. In 401 games he has scored 101 goals, 69 assists, and 170 points. After starting slow in his career in Boston, the trade to Florida paid off. He saw his point totals rise and more opportunities for himself. In his first full season in Florida he went on to have a career year finishing with 39 points. Traded again to New York, the winger has now found a home in there and went on saying he wanted to stay. Mollie Walker from NY Post Sports got a quote from his exit interviews saying, I think I have some unfinished business here. I want to help this team win a Stanley Cup.”

The winger did not get his wish. A new chapter begins for the forward as he embarks on a new season ahead with a new club in the Anaheim Ducks.

What The Team Is Getting

Frank Vatrano’s deal will pay off. The Ducks are getting a player that can play in all situations. The benefit is that Vatrano can move anywhere in the lineup and is capable of playing alongside anyone. Either playing on the third line or with some of the best players on the roster, Vatrano is capable of producing, and that production makes a difference in a good team or a great team. With the itch to win after coming so close, a hungry player is about to enter the 2022-23 season.
