It is no secret that the Chicago Blackhawks would be headed for a rebuild. And his is biggest trade chip that can net a return to accelerate that. While it’s also been noted that the Philadelphia Flyers have pitched an offer for the number five overall pick, another team has emerged. The New Jersey Devils have discussed moving the pick for Debrincat. Upon evaluation, they have noted that he is worth the price.
Why This Makes Sense For The Devils
Alex DeBrincat could be involved in a trade. The Devils could use another winger to boost the top six of the lineup. While boasting top centres in Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, they need wingers to play alongside of them. The team is currently negotiating with Jesper Bratt, but Debrincat would be a major boost. Tom Fitzgerald has gone on to say he will trade the pick for a proven player, but they would evaluate who is worthy of such a selection. Alex Debrincat is.
In five season, he has eclipsed the 30 goal mark twice and the 40-goal mark twice, including this season. 40 goal scorers do not grow on trees and this would make the Devils much more lethal. Debrincat is coming off of his best season as he scored 41 goals, 37 assists, and 78 points. He also went on to score 14 goals and have 14 assists on the power play which would give the Devils a boost. The young winger has two more years of team control, this is perfect for the Devils going forward.
Why the Blackhawks Should Trade Him
The Blackhawks should make the trade. The team has had its best days put behind them and new days are ahead. The team should build around him for the future, but trading him makes sense to get valuable assets back and build towards the future.
