NHL Predictions With Winnipeg Jets vs Montreal Canadiens
Head-to-Head: Jets 1 – 0 Canadiens
In the only game slated for today, the Winnipeg Jets will take on the Montreal Canadiens. Winnipeg has the advantage in the head-to-head matchup, having won the teams’ first contest in a high-scoring fashion.
It hasn’t been an easy road lately for the Jets. The fact that they will be playing the Canadiens as the last half of a back-to-back won’t do them any favours. Winnipeg will also most likely be missing captain Blake Wheeler, who has been out since Friday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche with an undisclosed injury. However, even without Wheeler in the lineup, the Jets hung with the Avalanche through regulation. Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers each scored two goals and an assist.
On the Canadiens’ end, things have also been up and down lately. A shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and a decisive victory against the New Jersey Devils were highlights. But their last game was a loss – albeit a close one – to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cole Caufield continued his scoring pace in that contest, recording a goal to bring him to a total of four goals and an assist through his last four games. Joel Edmundson recorded the other goal in that game.
Though the Canadiens’ recent record has actually been slightly better than that of the Jets, their performance overall this season has not inspired much confidence. Winnipeg should be able to get back on track with a win tonight.
Prediction: Jets win, 4-3
