Pittsburgh Penguins

Jim welcomes everyone to the show as he introduces a new segment called “What You Missed While We Were Away.” The boys run through the NHL season being paused for COVID, the NHL players not going to the Olympics, and COVID attendance restriction issues. After that quick roundtable Jim transitions to the show talking about the red hot Pittsburgh Penguins. He mentions the Penguins had their 10-game winning streak come to an end. Coach Jay and Marc agree how amazing this run is despite them not getting much from Sidney Crosby. The Penguins are doing this all season with Evan Rodrigues, Jake Guentzel, and Bryan Rust stepping up. Coach Jay mentions the play of Tristan Jarry. Jim asks the question when Evgeni Malkin does come back, where does he fit in?

St. Louis Blues

Jim then transitions the show to talk about the St. Louis Blues and their play of late. The boys break down the Blues performance at the Winter Classic and the play of Jordan Kyrou. Jordan Binnington is back to 2019 Binnington. And Vladimir Tarasenko has accepted his role and produced like the old Tarasenko. Jim notes while he may still want out, is there a better place than St. Louis to play right now. They all agree they have work to do in the Central Division, but nobody out West will want to face them in the playoffs.

Florida Panthers

The show then transitions to talking about the Eastern Conference and the top team in the Power Rankings in the Florida Panthers. Jim notes this team is balanced from top to bottom and they are doing this without Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart in the lineup. Anton Lundell is stepping up for the Panthers. As is Anthony Duclair. Not to mention Aleksander Barkov continues to amaze. As Coach Jay mentions the play of Sergei Bobrovsky have the Panthers at the top of the division.

Boston Bruins

Jim then switches the show to talk about the Boston Bruins. Here is another team that is playing well and in the playoff picture. The Bruins have moved Charlie Coyle back to the third line, but as Jim notes are still missing a second-line centre. The boys are surprised it took this line to break up the “Perfection Line,” to generate scoring. Just imagine as Jim notes if David Krejci was still on the team. The boys discuss Tuukka Rask coming back and what they will do with their goaltending situation.

The boys go around the league looking at the ageless wonders like Alex Ovechkin, Joe Pavelski, and Joe Thornton. Plus they discuss the latest trade rumours involving Alexander Georgiev, John Klingberg and so much more.

Enjoy!
