Vegas Golden Knights Alex Tuch Out After Shoulder Surgery

2020-21 Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights announced today that forward Alex Tuch is expected to miss the next six months after undergoing shoulder surgery. The announcement was made on the team’s official Twitter account on Friday.

Alex Tuch Out Six Months

Last Season Tuch scored 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points. He also added 28 minutes in penalties in 55 games played for the Golden Knights. His possession numbers were 54.9 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of +1.8. Tuch also added four goals and five assists for nine points in 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games. The Golden Knights were eliminated in the Stanley Cup Semi-Final.

Over his five-year NHL career, Tuch has played for the Golden Knights and the Minnesota Wild. He originally joined the Golden Knights in a side deal around their expansion draft. He has 61 goals and 78 assists for 139 career points in 255 career NHL games. Tuch has also added 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points in 66 career Stanley Cup Playoff Games. He was originally drafted by the Wild in the first round, 18th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Tuch is a power winger who leaves a hole on the Golden Knights third line. He could be counted on to drive the net and add points from further down the lineup. Tuch was the main play driver on his line. He is also versatile enough to play some centre, as he did when Chandler Stephenson was hurt during the playoffs. The Golden Knights recent trade for Evgeni Dadonov shows an attempt to replace Tuch in the lineup, at least until he can return.
