Filip Forsberg Week-to-Week for Nashville Predators

Filip Forsberg

The Nashville Predators’ injury troubles continue to get worse. Today, they announced that forward Filip Forsberg is week-to-week. He joins a long list of Preds players that include Matt Duchene, Ryan Ellis, Mark Borowiecki, and others. However, this may be the worst loss yet.

Filip Forsberg is Out

Nashville was finally starting to find some steam and work their way into the playoff race lately. However, this is another tough injury to overcome. Forsberg is one of, if not, the most important forwards on the team. The Swedish forward is having an unreal season so far with 29 points in 34 games. Additionally, he and Duchene both being out takes a big hit to their top six.

It will be interesting to see how Nashville responds, as they have been rumoured to be sellers this season. Although, this latest hot streak may have started to change their mind. Despite the solid play, this division is still insanely tough and sneaking into the fourth spot may not do a lot of good. Either way, losing Forsberg will be a big hit to the team’s offence. Finding a way to replace him internally will be tough but must be done.

Going Forward

As mentioned before, Filip Forsberg joins a very long list of Predator players that are week-to-week. Some are more depth pieces that are unfortunate but will happen. However, others are key pieces of the team like Ellis and Duchene. If the Predators want to be any kind of threat come playoff time they will need all of these guys back, healthy, and playing some of their best hockey.

However, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them. They are still a .500 hockey club and it may be in the best long-term interest to retool and find some more assets for the future. Regardless, they will hope Forsberg can return as soon as possible.
