Hockey is finally back! Normally we’d be closing in on the mid-way point of the regular season, however, we’re in a different world. Last Word on Hockey is still going to look back at each date’s historical significance to the game. We’ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Brett Hull Scores 50th Goal
1990: The St. Louis Blues forward gets his 50th goal of the season in the third period of a 6-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The younger Hull gets his 50th goal of the 1989-90 season when he beats Toronto goalie Jeff Reese low to the stick side on a breakaway.
Hull joins his father, Bobby Hull, as the first father-son duo to get 50 goals in a season. Bobby reached 50 goals five times in his career.

1943: Montreal Canadiens forward Elmer Lach sets a team record six assists in an 8-3 win over the Boston Bruins. Five of Lach’s assists come goals by Ray Getliffe and Joe Benoit also adds four assists.
1971: The elder Hull nets his 20th career hat trick in the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 win over the Minnesota North Stars. Younger brother Dennis Hull adds two goals and an assist.
The Bruins Phil Esposito gets back-t0-back 100-point season. Esposito gets the mark with a goal and two assists in a 4-3 home win over the Buffalo Sabres.
1973: The Blues Connie Madigan becomes the oldest rookie in league history when he plays in a 5-1 victory over Vancouver Canucks. Madigan has three assists in 20 games before he’s sold back to San Diego of the Western Hockey League.
1987: New York Islanders forward Mike Bossy becomes the first player to score 30 goals in each of his first 10 seasons. He gets the milestone goal in a 3-3 tie with the Edmonton Oilers.
1993: Mike Gartner powers the Wales Conference with four goals in a 16-6 victory over the Wales Conference in the All-Star Game at Montreal. Gartner gets MVP honours after replacing teammate Mark Messier in the lineup.
2001: Buffalo’s Doug Gilmour gets his 900th career assist in a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers. He assists on Miroslav Satan‘s goal to become the 13th player to get 900 helpers.
2018: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask makes 26 saves in a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. He helps extend the his streak of at least a point in 21 games (19-0-2).
