New Jersey Devils

Jim opens the show talking about the Devils first two games of the season against the Boston Bruins. While the team showed progress in Game 1, they came up empty. But they carried that momentum into Game 2 picking up the win thanks to Yegor Sharangovich‘s first NHL goal. Jim also talks about players that have impressed him thus far. Along with Sharangovich, Jack Hughes is a player that has stood out. Marc and Jim talk about how playing in the NHL at such a young age is tough. And having that man weight will help Hughes going forward. Jay and Jim talk about Mackenzie Blackwood and how he is a real contender for the Vezina Trophy this year considering the load he will have to carry with no Corey Crawford on the team anymore.

New York Islanders

The show then transitions to the Islanders. Jim, Marc, and Jay discuss how the Islanders are pretty much the same team they were last season. They continue to play a disciplined style under head coach Barry Trotz. Marc says Trotz is the key to the Islanders success. Jay talks about Semyon Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin and can Sorokin handle the expectations that are put on him. (They also break the news that Varlamov was injured in warmups prior to the game against the Rangers on Saturday night and Sorokin was making his NHL Debut.

New York Rangers

Speaking of the Rangers, Jay and Marc talk about the Rangers and the overreaction to the first game loss. Here Jim brings up the expectations on Igor Shesterkin. Can he handle the pressure of being the number one goalie? Expectations are high for the Rangers. And they have the ability to make the playoffs this year. But with such a young team a losing streak early could hurt their psyche.

The show closes with the boys giving their predictions for the 2020-21 NHL East Division. Who they like and don’t like. Plus Coach Jay ranks the goalies in the division plus gives his best goalie tandem of the division.
