Bluenotes Podcast: Season 2, Episode 10

Another year, another St Louis Blues affiliate fiasco. The AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds are opting out of the 2020-21 NHL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tom Franklin and The Man Called Wags take a quick jaunt through the St Louis Blues affiliate history, while also wondering what this means for young prospects like Joel Hofer. Then, the boys chat about the start times for the coming season. The NHL cut the Blues a bit of a break on west coast start times, but was it enough? And we’re getting an idea of where newly-signed Mike Hoffman and Vince Dunn will fit into the Blues line combinations and defensive pairings.

Then, it’s time for a chat with Carter Potts and Nate Thomas of The Quack Report. The Anaheim Ducks are new division rivals in the West Division, but have had their share of struggles in recent years. Tom and Wags learn more about the team, where former Blues’ favorites Kevin Shattenkirk and David Backes fit in, who is expected to break out for them, and more!

Who are Tom and Wags? Tom Franklin grew up in Arnold/Imperial, Missouri and Wags grew up in Maryland Heights, Missouri. They both grew up diehard fans of the St Louis Blues and have always loved talking about their favorite team. Tom was never athletic enough (or rich enough) to play hockey, but Wags still plays to this day! You can find Tom’s work at LastWordOnHockey.com. Guy The Hawaii Blues Fan’s work can be found at STLFanReport.com.
