Vince Dunn Re-Signed by the St. Louis Blues

The soon to be 24 year old Dunn has spent his first three years in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues. Last season, Dunn saw his production dip from the previous year scoring nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 71 games.

Over his first three seasons, Dunn has 26 goals and 56 assists for 82 points in 224 games.

Dunn was originally draft by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 56th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

What This Means for the Future

Dunn is an outstanding defenceman who is very underrated. After being pushed to a limited role with the Blues after acquiring Justin Faulk and Marco Scandella during the season, Dunn still managed to find a way to produce when given the chance. Dunn averaged just 16:16 of ice time per game playing on the third pairing, however, still managed to almost put up double digits in goals. Not to mentioned scored over 20 points.

Dunn will look to build off his impressive advanced stats and look to earn himself a bigger role with the Blues. Dunn was pushed to the third pairing after the club acquired Scandella. However, Dunn has a lot more upside than Scandella does and should eventually work himself back into the top four. He has the ability to quarterback the powerplay and put up a ton of points in the right situation and surely he will be utilized this way with the Blues in the near future. Dunn is a quality top-four defender who can certainly be used as a top-pairing defenceman given his skillset. Dunn along with newly acquired Torey Krug give the Blues two excellent puck-moving defencemen in their top four for foreseeable future.
