Blackhawks Hire Kendall Coyne Schofield

Kendall Coyne Schofield is a pioneer of women’s hockey. A staple of the United States Women’s Hockey Program, Schofield has been a leader on and off the ice. She will become the first-ever female player development coach for the Chicago Blackhawks organization. Schofield has a chance to make an impact at the highest level of hockey.

She was an offensive dynamo at Northeastern University where her skills spoke for themselves. In her senior year, she tallied 84 points in just 37 games. Over her entire NCAA career, she produced 249 points in 133 games. Her offensive skills are unmatched. Schofield also had the opportunity to showcase her skills at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition in 2019. She competed in the fastest skater competition where she recorded faster times than several NHL stars including Noah Hanifin, Josh Bailey, and Zach Werenski. The Blackhawks have a lot of young talent on the roster who will surely benefit by learning from such a dynamic talent.

What This Means For the Hawks

With the Blackhawks, Kendall Coyne Schofield has an opportunity to make a real impact. Joel Quenneville was the bench boss for Chicago for a long time. Since his departure for the Florida Panthers, Jeremy Colliton has taken over coaching duties. Schofield will play a critical role in the new coaching staff. She has certainly developed a reputation around the league as a fierce competitor and a highly talented individual. There is no one better suited to be responsible for player development. Her skills spoke for themselves. In international play, Schofield has 16 points in 16 games. Her offensive talent made the United States rivalry with Canada a must-see event. There are few more talented than she and the Blackhawks have brought in someone who should be a premier talent developer in the NHL.

The Blackhawks also hired former NHLer Erik Condra today in the role of player development coach, joining Coyne Schofield on their staff.
