Dallas Stars Sign Mark Pysyk

Over his 8-year NHL career, Pysyk has played for the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers. He has put up 22 goals and 66 assists for 88 career points in 417 career games. He was originally drafted in the first round, 23rd overall of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.

This past season in Florida,  he scored nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. He also added 20 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 44.5 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -6.4.

What This Means for the Future

Coming into the NHL as a defensive-defenceman, Pysyk has grown his game to become a multifaceted player. When injuries hit the Panthers this season, head coach Joel Quenneville saw something in Psysk that he may not have seen himself. Pushing Pysyk up as a forward, he was quickly granted the title “hybrid.” As a forward, Mark Psysk played his role to a tee. A bottom-six guy, he made sure to make the most of every shift. Battling hard in the corners and playing extremely responsible all over the ice.

Towards the end of the season, Pysyk forward role became a pretty regular thing. He showed great improvement on the offensive side of things as well. Finishing the season sixth on the Panthers in shooting percentage at 14.1 percent and sixth in defensive point share with 1.5. He even scored a hattrick against the Toronto Maple Leafs back in March. At the end of the day, the Dallas Stars have found themselves a genuine role player who just wants to see his team succeed.
