Today we cover the Philadelphia Flyers comic captions for the 2019-20 season.

Philadelphia Flyers Comic Captions for 2019-20

Travis Konecny

Travis Konecny was the Flyers 24th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Entry draft, and he has turned into a really decent forward for the team. This 2019-20 campaign has shown he was worth the six-year $33 million contract he was rewarded in September of 2019. He gathered 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points in 66 games. Konecny also had five power play goals with 18 man advantage assists. He shot at a 17 per cent accuracy rate.

He’s just 23-years-old and figures to be a force on the forward line for years to come for the Flyers. He is very consistent in his game and has added 24 goals each of his last three seasons. Another facet of his game has really come to the attention of management and fans alike. He is an outstanding possession player with a Corsi For of 55.8 and a Relative Corsi of 5.9. Now that’s a player you want to lead the rush down the ice and feel assured you won’t lose possession of the puck.

Claude Giroux

The Flyers captain Claude Giroux has tapered off a bit this season, but he’s still a clutch player and gritty veteran. He could be slowing down a bit with age (32) evident by his drop from 1.04 points per game last season to 0.77 this season. Yet, he’s still dangerous to score and receives the due respect he deserves from opponents. He has been effective on the power play with seven goals to his credit.

As captain he led his team to 89 points on the season, just one point behind the Washington Capitals. Giroux has two more years on his current contract paying him $8.275 million AAV. He is still on the first line and will be an asset in the playoffs. If the NHL decides to go forward with the 24-team format Giroux will be valuable. As it stands now, they would likely face the winner of the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins first-round best-of-five playoff series.

Giroux is a winner and he will be tough to stop in a proposed playoff series.

“Matt, you can have a second career as a chiropractor if this doesn’t work out… that feels amazing!”

Carter Hart

The young goalie has impressed everyone with his performance over the last two seasons. He has accumulated a 40-26-4 record with a .915 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against-average. He may not be flashy, but he’s effective. Just 21-years-old he is earning a reasonable $733,833 a season. Hart has one more year on his entry-level contract after this season.

The team will have a decision to make for his backup as Brian Elliott will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. At 35-years-old, the Flyers may have the widest age gap between their two goalies in the league. No matter who is the backup goalie, it appears that the starter will be Carter Hart. The team does have Alex Lyon playing decently in the AHL and that would mean the Flyers wouldn’t be spending very much on the goalie position. With the salary cap seeming not to increase due to the loss of revenue during the pandemic, the Flyers will have some money to spend if Elliott doesn’t re-sign with the team.
