Winnipeg Jets Nathan Beaulieu Out At Least A Month

Nathan Beaulieu

The Winnipeg Jets defence continues to be decimated by injury. The team announced today that defenceman Nathan Beaulieu will be out at least a month with a lower-body injury.

Jets Nathan Beaulieu Injured

It has been a tremulous season for not only the Jets but Beaulieu. This is his third injury this season. He has missed a combined 19 games this season so far. Beaulieu missed 15 games to begin the season before missing four more games between November 23 and December 3.

Beaulieu was injured blocking a shot during the Jets 7-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. After killing the penalty, Beaulieu was able to take a couple of shifts after the incident. However, he did not play during the final 6:43 of the contest.

In 21 games this season, Beaulieu has registered four assists averaging 15:56 of ice time. However, with all the injuries on the Jets blueline, Beaulieu was a steady force back there. His absence could expose goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to more rubber.

Going Forward

With Beaulieu out of the lineup, Carl Dahlstrom will enter the lineup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. After the Jets were done practicing, the Jets announced Sami Niku was recalled from the Manitoba Moose. Nku has played one game for the Jets this season. In 18 games with the Manitoba Moose, he has 14 points (three goals and 11 assists).

The Jets have done an amazing job defensively despite all their injuries. Even with Niku in the lineup look for the minutes to increase for Neal Pionk and Dmitry Kulikov. They have been rock solid, especially Pionk, who came over from the New York Rangers in the Jacob Trouba trade.

With Beaulieu being out at least a month, look for the Jets to put him on injured reserve.
