The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Matthew Peca is out at least six weeks. Also, Charles Hudon is out right now and on crutches. He will see a doctor tomorrow.

Charles Hudon and Matthew Peca Out
The Montreal Canadiens are down a few more bodies as the gruelling season rolls on. First, we have Charles Hudon who was seen in crutches and will be evaluated further. The 25-year-old was drafted by Montreal in the fifth round 122nd overall back in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent his entire five-year career with Montreal. Playing 119 games and adding 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points. This season, he has bounced between Montreal and their farm team Laval. He has played in Laval more this year and this won’t have a huge effect on Montreal.
Matthew Peca is leaving a roster spot open in Montreal. He has played more of his time in Laval this season too but had been brought up and playing recently. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Drafted in the seventh round at 201st overall back in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He has played with the Lightning and Canadiens as a depth player. Peca hasn’t played more than 39 NHL games in a season yet in his career. So, it will be possible for Montreal to keep going.
Moving Forward
Ryan Poehling may get a shot, for now, to replace Peca on the bottom line. Poehling is an incredible talent youngster who the Habs hope will be a mainstay for them for a long time. Montreal should be getting Paul Byron back soon so that may clear things up going forward. Montreal has been hit hard with injuries this season. Byron, Jonathan Drouin, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and Victor Mete are all on the injured reserve currently. It has not been easy for the Habs. Despite going on a massive losing streak they are still right in the playoff hunt.
The Atlantic division is a very close race between many teams this year. Getting their bodies healthy and ready to contribute will be key. No doubt both Charles Hudon and Matthew Peca will want to get back as soon as possible to give themselves another chance at cracking the NHL roster.
