Calgary Flames Place Austin Czarnik On LTIR

Austin Czarnik

The Calgary Flames have announced that they have placed forward Austin Czarnik on long-term injured reserve. Czarnik suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday’s 6-5 shootout win against the Florida Panthers. In a corresponding move, the club has recalled Alan Quine from the Stockton Heat.

Over his four year NHL career, Czarnik has scored 13 goals and added 25 assists for 38 points in 121 games.

So far this season, Czarnik has scored two goals and one assist in eight games.

Czarnik is currently in his second year of a two-year deal signed with the Flames on July 1st, 2018.

Tough Break for Czarnik

Czarnik seems to have caught the injury bug early in the 2019-20 season. He missed four games earlier in the year after being run over by Colorado Avalanche defenceman Nikita Zadorov on opening night.

Czarnik was on a three-game point streak, including scoring a goal against the Panthers before leaving with the lower-body injury.

In his place, the Flames have recalled Alan Quine from Stockton. Quine is currently enjoying a successful start to the AHL campaign as he has scored one goal and four assists in four games. This ties him for second in team scoring.

It’s uncertain if we will see Quine make his debut with the Flames this season on Saturday night or if it will be Tobias Rieder who will draw into the lineup. Rieder has played eight games with the Flames so far this season and has registered one goal.

Quine did enjoy a 13 game stint with the Flames last season. He faired well scoring three goals and two assists in 13 games.

The Flames will play the Winnipeg Jets in the Heritage Classic in Regina on Saturday night.
