Carolina Hurricanes Erik Haula Out Day to Day

The Carolina Hurricanes announced that forward Erik Haula is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Erik Haula Injured

During the second period of Friday’s night 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, Haula took a hard hit from Josh Manson. Haula crashed into the boards and immediately went down the tunnel. Before leaving the game, Haula scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Haula came over in a trade during the off-season from the Vegas Golden Knights. In nine games, Haula has eight points (seven goals and one assist).

According to reports, head coach Rod Brind’Amour sounded optimistic after the game about Haula’s injury. The Hurricanes do not play again until Thursday, so there is plenty of time for Haula to recover before then.

Going Forward

The Hurricanes hope that Haula is not out long-term as the team can’t afford to lose another forward. Already without Jordan Martinook, losing your leading scorer would be tough given the struggles the Hurricanes are having on offence. With Haula out of the lineup, look for Sebastian Aho to step up. Aho is off to a slow start after signing his new contract this past off-season. The Hurricanes will need him to get going in order for the team to remain near the top of the standings. It will be interesting to see how the Hurricanes combat the injury to Haula.
