Arizona Coyotes Anthem Singer Patrick Lauder Let Go: Real Hockey Talk Podcast #15

Coyotes anthem singer Lauder

The theme of our show today is that the Arizona Coyotes anthem singer, Patrick Lauder was removed as their anthem singer.

Today, we visit Mrs. Chicken at 32nd street and Indian School Rd in Phoenix, AZ. As we sit on the exterior patio we can’t wait to have our delicious chicken and french fries seasoned with BBQ sauce.

Arizona Coyotes Anthem Singer Lauder Let Go

We begin this show as we always do with Dave’s ‘what have I learned’ and ‘this day in NHL history’.

The main theme that Dave wanted to share was the news that the Arizona Coyotes anthem singer Patrick Lauder, was let go. There was a huge backlash on social media criticizing the move. The team explained it was a ‘marketing move’ and that they were going in another direction.

Dave reads some of the fans comments on Patrick’s Facebook page. Then we discuss the decision to terminate him as the team’s National Anthem singer. He had performed the anthems (both the U.S. and Canadian) for 454 games and has been doing it since the team migrated here from Winnipeg in 1996.

Greg attempts to determine the marketing direction the team may be using. He feels that having various singers will attract additional family and friends to the game.

Evan Nickels Calls into the Show

Evan had been a writer on another site with William. He’s a local guy who is originally from the Chicago area. He plays in a men’s league locally. We picked his hockey brain on things like the Coyotes chances this coming season and the restricted free agent situation. We ask him about the Toronto Maple Leafs salary cap challenges and how he felt about the Coyotes adding Phil Kessel. Listen in to hear his comments.

Jillian Fisher Video on Why Your Team Will Not Succeed or Win the Cup

We weren’t able to include Jillian’s video she put on her Twitter account. So, instead William watched it and transcribed it for this article. We will include some here to give you a teaser. Hopefully it will entice you listen to the podcast of the show.

  • The New York Rangers: I’m annoyed at your “REBUILD” because a rebuild is supposed to be long and painful, and for you guys it wasn’t. It’s not fair to the rest of us who have to suffer. So for that I’m going to be really mean here and say you’re not going to win the Cup because Hank just doesn’t have it in the tank anymore, that’s right… I’m going after ‘King Henry’.
  • Ottawa Senators: This is quick… because Melnyk is still your owner.
  • Columbus Blue Jackets: You went all in last year and lost a lot of key pieces and now the competition is just too much.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins: They will not win the Stanley Cup because they do not have the depth and speed they once had when they won their Stanley Cups.
  • Arizona Coyotes: Even Phil Kessel who has played in 774 consecutive games, catches the injury bug.
  • Minnesota Wild: I don’t know this team to me is a mess… you’re not really bad enough to get a good draft pick, or good enough to win a Cup. You’re just like a hamster on a hamster wheel running to nowhere… it’s just not a fun time, but hey at least you guys got a puppy.
