Danton Heinen Out Tonight For Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are still in pursuit of the home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. They will have to do so without forward Danton Heinen, who is under the weather. Heinen will miss tonight´s game due to an illness. He was playing through illness in the Bruins last game against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

Boston Bruins Will Miss Forward Danton Heinen Tonight

Danton Heinen has had a much stronger second half of the season. As of now, he has skated in 75 games with the Bruins and recorded 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points. Last season, the 23-year-old winger had a breakout year with career-high 47 points. Heinen was pointless in his last four games and was playing while ill in Detroit. The Canadian forward is set to become a restricted free agent in the summer.

Before that game versus the Red Wings on Sunday, Head coach Bruce Cassidy admitted, that many of the Bruins players are under the weather. That´s also why forward Chris Wagner missed their last contest in Detroit, which the Bruins eventually lost 6-3.

What Does This Mean For The Future

Chris Wagner, who missed the last game for the Bruins, will be back in the lineup. He will skate on the third line alongside Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson, two trade-deadline acquisitions by the Bruins. Wagner has scored 12 goals during the present campaign. With his new career-high in goals, Wagner has won The Seventh Player Award on Saturday for the Bruins player who most exceeded the expectations among fans.

The Bruins will continue to use young winger Karson Kuhlman, he will play on the second line. The Bruins face the Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena. Boston still needs three more points in order to clinch the second spot in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. They will have two more games left after tonight.
