Blackhawk Acquisitions

In Caggiula, the Blackhawks get a good skater with great hands. This season, he scored seven goals and four assists for 11 points, adding 16 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 49.5 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.6.

The Whitby, Ontario native has only played for the Edmonton Oilers. In that time, he has 27 goals and 22 assists for 49 career points in 156 career games. The Oilers signed him as an undrafted free agent after a standout career at the University of North Dakota in the NCAA.

Garrison is a steady defender with experience and plays a safe game. He has one goal in 15 games played and added eight penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 45.6 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -6.3.

The White Rock, British Columbia native has played for the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers in his 11-year NHL career. Oiler Acquisitions

The Oilers get a defenceman that has shown flashes of being a good puck-mover. However, he’s inconsistent. He has a goal and two assists for three assists this season. He has 21 penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 47.2 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -5.7.

The Prince George, British Columbia native has 12 goals and 34 assists in 234 career games. He has played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks in his seven-year NHL career. The Flyers signed him as an undrafted free agent after playing for the Chilliwack Bruins of the WHl.

Norell is on loan to the Swedish league and plays for Djurgårdens IF.

What This Means for the Future

Chicago moves Manning’s $2.25 million contract off the books and replaces him with the steady Garrison.

Caggiula has shown flashes of his offensive game like he did in college and hopes to put it together on a team with a lot of young talent.

Manning will try to bolster an Edmonton defensive group that has been suspect.
