The New York Islanders will be without a trio of players as Jordan Eberle, Cal Clutterbuck and Thomas Hickey will miss Friday night’s game versus the Ottawa Senators. Islanders head coach Barry Trotz announced this to the media earlier in the day.

Jordan Eberle, Cal Clutterbuck, Thomas Hickey Out for Isles

Eberle was ruled out for Friday’s game after missing practice on Thursday due to stiffness. He is day-to-day, and the Islanders are hoping he can be available for Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Regina, Saskatchewan native has seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points in 35 games. He’s added 12 penalty minutes so far this season. His Corsi for is 49.7 and relative Corsi is 3.6

Clutterbuck suffered a lower-body injury after leaving Sunday’s game against the Dallas Stars. He missed the rest of the game after being clipped by a Stars’ defender. Clutterbuck did travel with the team.

The Welland, Onatrio native has supplied two goals and four assists for six points in 32 games. He’s added 36 penalty minutes in 2018-19. His Corsi for is 47.6 and relative Corsi is 0.6.

Hickey is out for the remainder of calendar year with an upper-body injury. He got injured on Dec. 17 in a game against the Colorado Avalanche. He did not travel with the team on the first day he was eligible to come off the injured reserve.

What It Means for the Future

The Isles could be without three key players for their Ontario trip. New York has been dealing with injuries for a while as Andrew Ladd has been out since mid-November.

This will be a pivotal weekend as they get a crack at the Maple Leafs and former teammate John Tavares. However, the Islanders have won four of their last five games.
