The Nashville Predators announced that they have placed centre Kyle Turris on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. The news was announced early Sunday morning. In turn, Nashville recalled forward Rocco Grimaldi from their AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals. At the moment there is no timetable for Turris’ return.

Predators Place Kyle Turris On Injured Reserve

The injury occurred Friday night when the Predators visited the St. Louis Blues. Turris took a hard hit in the first period from Blues forward Brayden Schenn and did not return to the game. The Predators went on to lose the contest by a score of 6-2.

The 29-year-old has scored five goals and added 11 assists for 16 points in 23 games so far this season.

Since being traded to Nashville, Turris has scored 18 goals and 40 assists for 58 points in 88 games. He also recorded three assists in 13 playoffs games for the Predators last season.

Turris was acquired from the Ottawa Senators last season in a three-way deal which also involved the Colorado Avalanche.

Injury Bug Hits Nashville

The injury comes while the Predators are already without two of their top players. Defenceman P.K. Subban has been out with an upper-body injury since November 13th, while forward Viktor Arvidsson has been out since November 11th with a broken thumb. While Subban should be returning soon, Arvidsson’s recovery time is six-to-eight weeks.

The Predators could potentially be without two of their top six forwards for an extended period of time. The Predators will need players like Kevin Fiala, Craig Smith and Austin Watson to step up in the absence of Turris and Arvidsson.

Nashville currently sits on top of the Central Division with a record of 17-6-1. They will host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.
