After missing the team’s last four games, the St. Louis Blues have placed Brayden Schenn on injured reserve. The move was made retroactive to November 3rd, meaning Schenn is available to return at any time. Head coach Mike Yeo remained hopeful that he will be able to play on the team’s current road trip.

Brayden Schenn Placed On Injured Reserve

Schenn first suffered what was called “soreness” during the Blues 5-1 loss against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. He would miss the entire third period of that game. It has come out recently that the upper-body injury involves his oblique muscle.

Schenn has been skating and practicing with the team recently. He is not currently ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, despite being placed on injured reserve.

In his second season with the team, Schenn has appeared in 12 games and collected three goals and six assists thus far. Scoring has been hard to come for Schenn as his last goal came almost a month ago on October 17th.

He is looking to follow up a career season last year that saw him finish with 28 goals and 42 assists in 82 games. This was 11 more points than his best season in 2015-16.

The Blues have called up Sammy Blais from the San Antonio Rampage to fill Schenn’s roster spot. Blais has two goals in 19 games with the Rampage. He has previously appeared in eight games with the Blues this season, recording no points. Overall, Blais has one goal and two assists in 19 career NHL games.

Pat Maroon Out With Upper-Body Injury

Another Blues player has joined the injury list as Pat Maroon has been ruled out for the remaining two games of the road trip. With what has only been listed as an upper-body injury, Maroon has been sent back to St. Louis. He has recorded seven assists in 14 games with the Blues thus far.

“We sent him back (to St. Louis),” Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said after an optional team practice at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday. “We figured he’d be out for the next couple games, so instead of having him travel all over the country, we figured we’d get him back home to see our doctor and checked out and try to get a proper diagnosis.”

The Blues have struggled so far this season as they’ve posted a record of 6-7-3. They currently sit in last place in the Central Division, three points behind the Chicago Blackhawks. Having played without Schenn and now Maroon, the Blues need to figure things out and quickly before it is too late.
