The Nashville Predators announced Monday that they have placed forward Viktor Arvidsson on injured reserve. Arvidsson sustained an upper-body injury late in the third period against the Dallas Stars on Saturday. There is currently no timetable for his return.
Predators Place Viktor Arvidsson on Injured Reserve
The news is rather unfortunate for Arvidsson and the Predators as Arvidsson had just been activated from the injured reserve before the game against the Stars. The injury happened after Arvidsson crashed into the boards after receiving a slash from Stars defenceman Esa Lindell. He was seen flexing his left hand as he got up off the ice. Arvidsson had logged 19 minutes of ice time and registered an assist in the contest. The Predators ended up winning the game by a score of 5-4 in overtime. It was Nashville’s fifth straight win.
Arvidsson has been off to a good start in the 2018-19 campaign. He has registered eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 13 games. Arvidsson has been skating on the top-line alongside Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen.
Last season, Arvidsson finished second on the team in points with 61 points in 78.
What This Means for the Predators Moving Forward
Losing Arvidsson is a massive blow for the Predators. Arvidsson is currently second on the Predators in goals and third overall on the team in points. He also has the best shooting percentage on the team at 23.5%.
With Arvidsson out of the lineup, Colton Sissons skated on the top-line in Arvidsson’s place on Monday morning. Sissons also finished the game on that line as well on Saturday. Nick Bonino will now slot into the third line centre role and Miikka Salomaki will draw back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch on Saturday.
The Predators will visit the Anaheim Ducks on Monday Night.
