Logan Shaw

After spending some time in the American Hockey League, the Winnipeg Jets have announced that they have signed Logan Shaw to a one-year, two-way contract. It will pay him $675,000 through the rest of this season.

Logan Shaw Signs With Winnipeg Jets

Shaw has appeared in 180 total NHL games for the Florida PanthersAnaheim Ducks, and Montreal Canadiens. Shaw has registered 12 goals and 19 assists in those 180 games. He was most recently playing with the San Diego Gulls in the AHL. He had two goals and three assists in seven games thus far. Shaw was drafted in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Panthers.

Last season, Shaw spent time with both the Ducks and the Canadiens. In 72 games between the two, he posted four goals and 10 assists. This past preseason, Shaw was on a PTO with the Calgary Flames but did not make the team.

Since turning pro in 2013-14, Shaw has also played for four different AHL teams. Aside from the Gulls, those include San Antonio, Portland, and Springfield. In 156 AHL games, Shaw has recorded 31 goals and 27 assists.

The two-way deal likely means this is a depth signing for the Jets. Shaw was placed on waivers this morning which would allow the Jets to send him to the Manitoba Moose if he is to clear tomorrow.

The Jets also announced that they have recalled defenseman Sami Niku. Niku had one goal and four assists in 12 AHL games. He was named the AHL’s best defenseman last season when he recorded 16 goals and 38 assists in 76 games. If Niku is to play, this will be his second appearance in the NHL. His first, however, was minor as he played one game for the Jets last season.
